The Poet's Bio

January Nicole Wilson was born in Philadelphia, PA to mother, Agnes Wilson and father, William Wilson. Raised in Fairfield, CT, she earned a BA in Literatures and Cultures in English from Brown University and a MA in International Development and Economics from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.

Just a few years ago she could be found in NYC, in Washington, DC, in Europe, in Latin America or in Africa. She worked in the field of international development for organizations like Save the Children and FINCA. She trotted the globe. She sought adventure. She did not know then that healing from a loss would help her stumble upon her passion.

This was the genesis of A Dawn Run Hot with Morning. Full of poetry about love, identity and other themes, the book takes the reader on a journey, a quest across a complex emotional landscape.

Although her passion for writing was stirred recently, it is not new. It all began years ago. At the age of 17, she was published in a Spanish language literary magazine for a poem she composed in Spanish & English, entitled ''Ode to the Sunflower'' or ''Oda al Girasol''. Since then, she became a semi-finalist in the New Millennium Writings' 2010 poetry competition for her poem "The Return" and she became a winner of the 34th Annual Trumbull Arts Festival Literary Contest in 2012 for her poem "Haunted."

About this blog

This blog results from a desire to get the word out about her foray into independent publishing, about lessons learned and about plans for the future. She was pleased with the experience she had with her first book. She would like to enhance the level of interaction and reach with future books. She has high hopes that this blog will do just that.
